Silver Rail Elementary School shooting
A shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, on October 15, 2026, in which a 16-year-old former student killed four people, including three children and a teacher, before being killed by a bystander. Teacher Becky Drury, who was seriously wounded, later disputed accounts that she had shielded a student, saying she was shot before she could intervene and played dead. Kaylub Giamanco, the father who killed the gunman, later described his actions and said he regretted not being able to save more children.
